Prospective Students
For admission purposes there are two groups of applicants to Macquarie programs:
- Local applicants who are Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or New Zealand citizens. Local students should consult this website for application procedures.
- International applicants are citizens of a country other than Australia or New Zealand. International applicants should seek further information at the Macquarie International website.
Local Applicants
Admission for local applicants to Macquarie University is based on academic merit. If you are seeking admission to an undergraduate program you must be able to provide evidence that you have the potential for tertiary study. Students who can demonstrate previous academic merit should apply through the Universities Admissions Centre.
Applicants who do not have accessible or sufficient academic merit may consider our Alternative Entry and Special Consideration Schemes called Pathways. These schemes often provide bonus points or the necessary academic record for admission into Macquarie University.
Macquarie University also provides direct applications to certain programs in languages, honours and graduate certificates and diplomas.
