CALCULATION OF GPA AND CREDIT POINT TOTALS

Internal degree transfer requirements will ordinarily include an aggregate number of credit points successfully completed and a required overall GPA. The credit points for the purpose of meeting transfer requirements must have been obtained from units undertaken at Macquarie University or from units designated as Macquarie University units e.g. designated credit from non-award or SIBT. The GPA for the purpose of meeting the transfer requirements is generated from Macquarie units undertaken as part of a degree program only i.e. non-award and SIBT are NOT considered in the calculation of overall GPA.

TRANSITION TO THE CURRENT CURRICULUM

There are three types of transition to the new curriculum:

  • Transitioning to the current curriculum version of your pre 2010 course. Transition to the current curriculum version of your pre-2010 course is automatically approved on request (there are no particular 'transition criteria').
  • Transferring to a different course. Students who were enrolled in pre-2010 courses (old curriculum) and who now want to transfer to a different course will also transition to the new curriculum and be subject to its benefits and requirements.
  • Students who commenced their course in 2010 (current curriculum) or later and now wish to transfer to another course in the current curriculum.

It is important that students make themselves aware that the current curriculum courses may include additional requirements. Pre 2010 students who transfer to the new curriculum and who have been exempted from People and Planet units will only be exempt from those units if they have completed their award by 1 January 2014. All students should seek academic advice.

Students who choose to transition to the current curriculum are not permitted to return to a pre-2010 program or qualify with a pre-2010 program. Please consider this carefully before submitting your application.

To transition to the current Curriculum please complete the online application form between the dates mentioned above.

Please Click Here for an important reminder about transitioning to the new curriculum.
