Previous Students Returning to Studies

Overview

Previous students of Macquarie wishing to return to study may apply directly to the University, provided they meet the eligibility criteria set out below.

International students apply via Macquarie International.

Local students meeting the eligibility criteria below can apply using the application below. If you do not meet this criteria, you will need to apply to the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) where your qualifications will be re-assessed.

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply to return to Macquarie via this pathway you must meet the following criteria:

  • be a previous Macquarie University student who was enrolled in an undergraduate course;
  • be returning to the the same undergraduate course;
  • have not undertaken any intervening tertiary studies* elsewhere;
  • have a recorded result in at least one unit of your incomplete qualification

Students that have previously been excluced from Macquarie will need to meet additional requirements before being approved to return to studies. Further information can be found on the Returning to studies following exclusion web page.

*Tertiary studies include TAFE courses at Certificate IV or higher, but not secretarial or trade courses. If you are not sure whether your tertiary studies would affect your application please contact the Coursework Studies Section by phone on (02) 9850 6410 or by submitting an online enquiry via ask.mq.edu.au.

How to apply

Applications for Session 2, 2013 are now open and close on Friday 7 June 2013.

Confirm that your course is offered:

Check the on-line handbook to find your course and ensure it is being offered in the year that you are returning to studies. If your course is no longer offered you can apply to return to a course that most closely matches your previous studies. See the on-line handbook for details of courses offered.

Submit the on-line application form:

Complete and submit the on-line application form. Please make sure that you complete the form in full.

Submit supporting documents where required:

Print out a Cover Sheet, complete your details and attach any relevant documentation for submission. You must submit additional documentation if:

  • you were previously excluded from studies at Macquarie - please see further information for excluded students to assist in preparing your additional documentation.
  • you have changed your name since you were last at Macquarie - submit certified copy of your deed poll or marriage certificate.
  • you have changed your residency status since you were last at Macqaurie - submit certified copy of your visa or citizenship certificate.

Confirm your application has been received

Following submission of your application you will receive an automated reply to confirm that we have received your on-line application. If you do not receive a reply you can request confirmation of receipt of your application via ask.mq.edu.au.

What next?

Once we have received your application we will assess it to ensure you meet the eligibility criteria.

Applicants that have previously been excluded from studies at Macquarie must have their application and additional supporting documentation assessed by a selection committee.

After your application has been assessed you will be emailed with an outcome including any offer and enrolment instructions.

Returning students are admitted to the current version of their course. In order to graduate you must meet any new requirements of your degree.
