Pathways to Macquarie
Macquarie University also offers a range of alternate entry schemes. These schemes can provide entry into university for those who do not have the academic merit. For full information please refer to our Pathways Brochure (PDF 216Kb).

| International College of Management, Sydney (ICMS) | Students interested in the areas of event management, hospitality management, international tourism, property services, retail services management and sport management. | Pathway places at ICMS allow for entry into diploma programs at ICMS and do not have a ATAR minimum requirement. After completing two years of study and achieving the appropriate Grade Point Average, students can transfer into the Macquarie University Bachelor of Business Administration program and complete the third year at ICMS to obtain their degree. |

| Sydney Institute of Business and Technology (SIBT) | Applicants who may not qualify for direct entry on academic merit | In most cases, students who complete a SIBT Diploma with an eligible GPA will get admission into second year of the relevant Bachelor's Degree at Macquarie University. There are some programs where students have to complete one or more 100 level units that were not part of their SIBT program which are prerequisites for further study. |

| Internal transfers | Applicants can enrol in a degree with a lower ATAR | Students may be eligible to apply to transfer into their chosen degree after meeting the requirements of the Internal Transfer Policy which can be viewed online via the University Handbook. |
| Transfer from another university | Students currently studying at another university who wish to transfer to a Macquarie University degree | Students must apply through UAC. UAC will take into account both their academic record at tertiary level as well as their ATAR. | Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT) | Mature age students and non - school leavers. Students who completed their HSC or International Baccalaureate in 2010 are not eligible to sit the STAT. | If your HSC/Year 12 australian tertiary admissions rank may not be sufficient to gain an offer, you may improve your opportunities by applying to sit the STAT. For new students in 2011 Macquarie will accept STAT scores in applications for all degree programs, as long as the test results meet the required cut-off marks. UAC administers the STAT. | Associate Degree in Information Technology | Students who have already completed an AQF Diploma in Information Technology. | A paraprofessional qualification offered by Macquarie University designed specifically as a transition path between TAFE and University study.
