Applying for Honours

Overview

The University is offering honours programs in 2014 in Ancient History and Psychology only. See below for further information.

Students interested in undertaking research training in other field are encouraged to visit the Higher Degree Research website for information on the Masters of Research.

Eligibility

Bachelor of Ancient History (Honours) (Continuation into 4th Year)

This program is a four-year degree comprising a three-year undergraduate program and one honours year. Only Macquarie students currently admitted to this program are eligible to apply for the honours year. They are required to submit an application while in the final session of third-year studies, and must meet the requirements to be eligible for enrolment in the honours year.

The specific requirements for continuation into 4th year include: core units and a grade point average of 2.50 or above overall, as well as a grade point average at 300 level of 3.00 or above.

Students who are unable to meet the requirements for the honours year can request graduation with the Bachelor of Arts.

Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) (Continuation into 4th Year)

This program is a four-year degree comprising a three-year undergraduate program and one year of honours. Only current Macquarie students in the final session of third-year studies in one of the below programs are eligible to apply:

  • Bachelor of Arts - Psychology
  • Bachelor of Science - Psychology
  • Bachelor of Psychology (Honours)

Applicants must meet the admission requirements for the honours year. Full details of entry requirements are available on the Psychology department website.

Students unsuccessful in gaining a place in the honours program may elect to graduate with either the Bachelor of Arts - Psychology or the Bachelor of Science - Psychology.

Bachelor of Arts - Psychology (Honours) and Bachelor of Science - Psychology (Honours)

These programs are one year stand-alone awards available to Macquarie University students only. Applicants must have completed or be in the final session of their psychology degree.

No external applications will be accepted.  Only those students who have completed their undergraduate degree at Macquarie University, or have transferred to Macquarie University at the undergraduate level are eligible to apply.

Please note that 2015 will be the last year the stand-alone programs will be offered and they will available for full-time study only.

Applications for Session 2, 2014 (Ancient History only) close 13 June 2014.

Applications for Session 1, 2015 are open from early September until late October 2014.

Late applications will not be accepted.

What next?

Honours applicants are advised to download the Information for Honours applicants' booklet and retain this for their records.

Applicants will be advised of the outcome of their application in late January.

Bachelor of Ancient History (Honours) (Continuation into 4th Year)

Only Macquarie students currently admitted to this program are eligible to apply for continuation into the fourth-year program.

Applications for Session 2, 2014 are now open and will close on 6/6/14. Late applications will not be accepted.

Applications for Session 1, 2015 are open from early September until late October 2014. Late applications will not be accepted.

What Next?

Honours applicants are advised to download the Information for Honours Applicants' booklet and retain this for their records.

Applicants will be advised of the outcome of their application in early July (Session 2, 2014) or late January (Session 1, 2015).

 

Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) (Continuation into 4th Year)

Only current Macquarie students in the final session of third-year studies in one of the below programs are eligible to apply:

  • Bachelor of Arts - Psychology
  • Bachelor of Science - Psychology
  • Bachelor of Psychology (Honours)
Students applying for continuation into fourth year should not submit an 'I Expect to Complete' form at the end of third year.

Bachelor of Arts - Psychology (Honours) and Bachelor of Science - Psychology (Honours)

Available only to Macquarie applicants who have previously completed or will complete their undergraduate psychology award before commencing the honours program.

Students must submit an 'I Expect to Complete' form before applying.

Submit Expect to Complete form for current course via ask.mq.edu.au
