Undergraduate Cross-Institution Study at Macquarie

  • Applications for Session 2 2012 and Summer Vacation will open on 4 April and close 8 June 2012.
  • Students need to provide their official transcript and other supporting documents within three weeks of submitting the online form

Cross Institution Study is for students who are Commonwealth supported and who are currently enrolled in a Session within an undergraduate award at another Higher Education Provider but wish to undertake nominated units at Macquarie University in the same Session which will count towards that particular undergraduate award at the other Higher Education Provider. For the purposes of Cross Institution study, Macquarie University is the 'Host University'; accordingly your current University is the 'Home University'.

Postgraduate students do not use this form.
Please go to http://www.postgrad.mq.edu.au/pdfs/XinstAppForm.pdf for the postgraduate application for cross institution studies.

International Students currently enrolled in an undergraduate award at another Higher Education Provider should contact Macquarie International.

Please note that Concurrent Studies at Macquarie University is different from Cross Institution Study at Macquarie University. Concurrent Studies at Macquarie University refers to a student studying a degree at Macquarie University intending to study individual units at another tertiary institution.
Cross Institutional study at Macquarie University may be suitable for students in the following categories:

  • The unit/s that you wish to enrol in are not offered at your Home University; or
  • The units may not be offered in the appropriate Session. Students applying for Cross Institution study should determine the Units that they wish to undertake after examining the appropriate section of the current Undergraduate Student Handbook.

Conditions of Enrolment

Applicants may be permitted to enrol in an undergraduate unit of study provided that accommodation and facilities are available, and that the Dean of the Faculty in which the unit is offered considers the application to have fulfilled any prerequisites for that unit. Details of undergraduate units offered are available from the Macquarie University Handbook. If there is any ambiguity between the unit code and the unit name nominated on your application, the unit code will be taken as indicating your choice. Please make sure that you include the correct availability with the unit/s chosen (ie. D1, E1, X1, D3, E2, V2 etc). Applying does not guarantee approval for your proposed undergraduate units of study at Macquarie.
Applications are only for the specified Session. Students wishing to continue studies in any subsquent year will need to re-apply in August of the year prior to the one in which they wish to study.

  2. An official academic transcript (or certified copy) of your current studies. This needs to handed in or sent to the university.
    • A simple printout of results will not be accepted. If you do not yet have an official transcript, please order one immediately from your Home University as these can take time to obtain.
  3. Unit outlines to demonstrate that you have met the prerequisites for the Macquarie units you wish to enrol in, (please note that this may not apply to you if you wish to study introductory units, for example).
